Les adverbes en « ment »
Such adverbs are derived from adjectives. If the adjective is masculine and ends with a vowel, we simply add “–ment” to such an adjective to obtain the adverb. Example: 1) joli – joliment, 2) rapide – rapidement.
If the masculine form of the adjective does not end with a vowel, that adjective is transformed into the feminine and then “–ment” is affixed in order to obtain the adverbe. Example: heureux – heureuse – heureusement.
If the adjective ends in “–ant”, we obtain the adverb by affixing “–amment”.
Example: 1) élégant – élégamment, 2) courant – couramment, 3) bruyant – bruyamment.
If the adjective ends in “–ent”, we obtain the adverb by affixing “– emment”.
Example: 1) prudent – prudemment, 2) évident – évidemmentAdverbs of doubt
Adverbs of doubt modify verbs thereby rendering them indecisive. They include: apparemment, peut-être, probablement, sans doute, toutefois, évidemment, sûrement etc. the choice of such adverbs depends on the type of sentences in which they operate.

Synonyms are words that have similar meanings while antonyms are words that have opposite meanings.

Descriptive (qualitative) adjectives: Gender and number
Descriptive or qualitative adjectives are words which describe nouns or pronouns. These adjectives give specific qualities or descriptions to a noun or a pronoun. Such adjectives agree in gender and number with the noun that they describe. i.e. 1) Feminine noun = feminine adjective 2) masculine noun = masculine adjective. 3) singular noun = singular adjective 4) plural noun = plural adjective. Generally, the feminine of most adjectives is obtained by affixing ‘e’ to the masculine adjective while the plural is obtained by affixing ‘s’ to the singular form.
Irregular forms of descriptive or qualitative adjectives.
There are some adjectives whose feminine and plural forms do not respect the rules stated above. i.e. affixing ‘e’ to the masculine form in order to obtain the feminine form. Such adjectives include : sec, frais, blanc, franc, vieux, beau, malin, courageux, gentil, primitive, neuf etc.
